    Sermon Summary
    A Game-changer for God

    Scripture: Isaiah 43:18-19

When Jesus was resurrected from the grave, He was a game-changer. Jesus is a game-changer for our sake so we can become a game-changer for Him. A game-changer is someone who dramatically changes a situation in a significant way. In biblical history and the church era, there were many games chargers for God. Abraham was a game-changer who trusted God and demonstrated faith. Apostle Paul and Barnabas were game-changers for God when they brought the gospel to the Gentile world.

It takes a certain kind of people with a certain kind of calling to act in a certain kind of way to be a game-changer. We too are called to be game-changers for God. We are supposedly the salt and light of the earth. God’s primary purpose for us is to be a game-changer for Him, to bring a transformation gospel impact in the circle of our influence.

What does it take to be a game-changer for God?

In Isaiah 43:18-19, it shows God as the sovereign game changer and He will bring about significant change and restoration to Israel who had been in captivity in Babylon. Encapsulated within these 2 verses, we can learn 3 things about being a game-changer for God.

    The 3 Rs of a game-changer:

    1. Reposition – Change the focus:
To become a game-changer for God, you must learn to reposition. God says to forget the former things and don’t dwell on the past. You need to stop looking behind and start looking ahead.

In Philippians 3:13, it shows us Paul is a game-changer. He didn’t allow past failures to paralyse him. He may be one of the living persecutors of the Christian faith. When he came to the Lord and received faith in Christ, he had to let go and not allow his past to hinder him. He didn’t depend on past success to sustain him either but constantly pressing towards the goal. You must not allow the past to define or paralyse you. The past is only useful to help us learn from it. Change your focus, let go of the past and lay hold of your future.

    2. Revelation – Clarity to vision:
Having revelation of who God is will bring clarity to God’s given vision. In Isaiah 38:19, God says “see I am doing a new thing”. There are 2 keywords in that verse, “see” and “perceive”.

In Isaiah 6:1-3, it says in the year King Uzziah died, Prophet Isaiah saw the Lord high and exalted, seated on the throne. Isaiah saw that death was the end of something. But death also signals the beginning of something new. In the death of something, God always does something new. Just like resurrection Sunday, even the death of Jesus Christ, He brought forth life. The revelation that Isaiah had was that God was the God of a new beginning. As a game-changer for God, you must have the revelation of who God is. You must not only see God for who He is, but you must also see possibility. In revelation, He is the God of possibility, for nothing is impossible in God!

The revelation of who God is will bring clarity to what God wants you to do. There is a big difference between God-given vision and your own vision. Before you ask God for vision, you need to know who God is.

    3. Restoration – Collaborate to act:
In Isaiah 43:18-19, God says “I am making a way in wilderness and streams in the wasteland”. If God is able to revive the desert place and restore the wasteland, what about the desert areas in your life and ministry? There were times in our lives when the vision we carried didn’t seem to bear much fruit. But take heart, God is God of restoration. David was in the desert place of struggle, he had been at the point of feeling abandoned, barren and there he wrote the famous Psalm 23. As you are guided and directed to His work, He will bring restoration and revival.

God is the ultimate game-changer no doubt, He set it in motion but you and I have to move it by faith. Jesus says in Matthew 17:20, “if you have the faith by the size of mustard seed, and you tell this mountain to move, it will move. Nothing is impossible for you”.

One thing God has given to Zion Church is the revelational teaching of God’s administration in the History of Redemption. The ministry often starts with the revelation of God and God will anoint his servant to carry His vision, and in this case, is the late Reverend Abraham Park. He acted by faith, he was committed to God’s given vision and He was willing to pay the price and collaborated with the holy spirit. And today we are all recipients of that revelation and the beneficiary of God’s given vision. The work of God in the History of Redemption has spread to the nations. And you must continue to work in faith, when God sets things in motion, you must commit to act by faith to continue this mission. Faith is believing in the unshakeable God.

    Conclusion

Reposition and change your focus. If you are wondering what is your vision, you need the revelation of God. You must seek him diligently in prayer. The revelation of God brings clarity to vision. Be a game-changer, extend a helping hand to serve and remain faithful in the ministry and the Lord will enlarge your capacity and open up opportunities for you to serve.

God has already set things in motion, you need to continue to move by faith. And when you act in obedience and collaborate with the holy spirit, revival and restoration will come in His time. God will restore highways in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. God is looking for a willing vessel to be a game-changer for Him in this ever-changing environment. Are you willing to be prophet Isaiah? Here am I, send me, lead me, guide me and use me?

    AMEN

    Pastor Samuel Kim
